Hi All,
Replies sorted oldest to newest
Well, I’m up near Worcester and could probably meet you somewhere near Warwick or Providence sometime in the next few weeks, but first, let’s see if anyone shows up a bit closer to Kingstown for you. I’ll also check the list of New England replica folks to see if there’s a widebody near you I could wake up.
@Troy Sloan Would be a good resource when/if you're ready to buy. He just sold a red one in the past week and may have another one in the works.
- Thanks for the help! If something closer doesn’t pop up
Worcester Is not to far for me to go, I appreciate you offering to take the time, no need to go out of your way! I have some family in Douglas, I can make a day of it. Let’s see what pops up! Thanks for the quick response.
Thanks!
Troy is an awesome guy!
I did get a chance to speak with him a few weeks ago! Extremely generous with his vast knowledge and great to talk with.

@Al D, remember the there are several flavors of wide-body Speedsters. There's the "California" body by CMC that Gordon has, the widebody that apparently only JPS makes, and the super wide body that Vintage makes (made?). They all look different with the super wide body being the most extreme. Kinda the Baskin-Robbins of Speedsters.
Douglas is certainly do-able. Takes me about 20 minutes to Douglas Center. I used to get my hair cut over there. Quite the jumpin' place!
Just let me know when you might come up and we can work something out.

JPS did not have a mold for Widebody or Super Widebody cars. They did build Widebody and Super Widebody cars, but they bought the bodies from Vintage Speedsters.
After Vintage Speedsters was sold and moved to Arizona, the molds for traditional style, Widebody and Super Widebody bodies were all acquired by Greg Leach at Vintage Motorcars of California Inc..
@Troy Sloan - Does Greg make the two wide body styles now? All I've seen since he acquired the molds were traditional.
Yes. He built a Super Widebody for me in 2019 and had an in between Widebody in progress a year or so ago. Earlier this year, he told me that he has only built two other Super Widebody cars since the one he built for me. He said he just didn't get requests for them.
And then there is the 911 3.6 liter Intermeccanica wide body. Made for a fellow in Toronto.
Wow! I never knew Henry built any wide bodies. Very nice.
Yes, the one I saw was very unique. He widened it by splitting the body and adding several inches, so it was wide but didn't have flares.
I always liked this widening concept. Takes a lot of courage to take a Saw-z-all to a car though --- or invite Cory to stop by?

I believe that's what Chuck Beck did to the Super Coupes like mine. Almost invisible unless you park it next to a real one.
Bingo, that black one is it! Wide or supper wide, what I am most particular about is the fender transition. If you notice on that one it is a very smooth transition on the quarter vs a crease where the flaring starts. I really want the smooth transition front and back for sure, up in the are in wide vs super wide.
That's a supersede, which sounds like what you want. The "medium" wide body is nice too, but they are pretty rare.
I just checked my hectic summer social calendar and I'm free after today through next weekend. Pretty much any day that's sunny and not beastly hot I can meet up with you. The Warwick offer still stands, although Douglas is fine, too.
I have a flared CMC with gentle, 4" fender flares that blend nicely into the main portion of the body.
This will give you an idea - Kinda like a Cobra on Steroids:

Howard's IM(and others) have "the slice of pie" cut to make room for wider rear rubber.

Yes, I think it is when the Kim Kardashian left her husband since then, no more Super wide bodies.
On a more serious note, the pie cut portions on IM's are usually done on the IM-6's like Bob' and Howards to put more meat on the rear wheels.
Thanks.
That is a beautiful machine!
I have to dive my daughter to Tampa this weekend for school! I will reach out to you next week.
We are taking her car down so now I have room for a speedster😎
Been a long time since I did that 20hr run, and I was a lot younger then! Wish me luck, I am going to need it..
