Below is what the winning bidder posted on BAT. Is the price for a Vintage Speedster less engine and trans. really $59.5K now?
@356fire. I was just reading the info directly off the VM website. As it read today $59.9k (without engine & trans). Have my VM speedster already, so much fun!!!!
Yes it is. And the wait is two years plus. I talk to Greg often, he sends some east coast people my way for upgrades and maintenance.
I have lost track of how expensive the Pan based Speedsters have gotten. In my mind $60-$70K is Beck territory.
Greg has elevated the fit and finish and general build quality quite a few notches from where it was.
I've no idea what Beck is charging these days but I'm pretty sure they're more also, as they should be. I think Carey is up to a three year wait.
Same color as mine on order, umbrella brake as well. Patience it claimed to be a virtue but I'm thinking not so much ...
my 2018 ish JPS coupe is lets just say...wayyyy better than when delivered as stock with a few upgrades...that being said....i have had $$$ cash offers (amount classified) far in excess of what i have in it....nice to know our cars can be probably sold instantly if desired...but i'm not there as of yet...barring some STUPID MONEY OFFER....which i have yet to hear....until that occurs, toooo many curvy roads yet to see
Seller was daniel550. Hmmmmm.
Sale price was higher than the price online with options selected, but not by much I don’t think. BAT gets their juice so buyer’s price is about $6k (?) higher. Warranty intact, break in done, in your driveway in days/weeks not years. Beautiful car, solid purchase.
Euphoria of the lotto

Around $50k, aircooled, tube chassis, a-arm suspension, rack and pinion, leather, German wool, Haartz, etc, etc... watercooled brings it closer to $60k but also adds a 5 speed (or automatic) Subaru gearbox. Yes, our waitlist is now North of 3 years and still getting longer. Sales are STILL about 4x production and no sign of slowing down.
Good problem to have Carey
Sorry, the sale to value ratio is dropping by the month. Used to be 25-30K got you a reasonably optioned and sorted Speedster and that was just a year or two ago. Yes, it was even less prior to that.
I just think they've left "fun little SEG plastic car" territory that was originally the point and moved to bespoke custom investments that was previously the purview of Intermeccanica alone.
I agree with the last post. I wonder if we will see an over surplus of used Speedsters on the market 10 years from now that will drive the selling price for good used Speedsters down. Even more if the Porsche Speedster is less appreciated by the generation that has the disposable income at that time. Problem is 10 years from now is a long time for many of the SOC group.

AMEN. My 31 year old son can't even drive a manual car. I tried teaching him on my Yota PU but he couldn't shift and turn steering wheel at same time.
So I'm guessing heel-toe work is a non-starter?
Bet he's a champion in Forza tho...
