I need CMC black rag top (prefer StayFree or Haartz canvas) with unattached header for top of windshield. It must me the fiberglass header that accomodates 2 clips (I have clips). Of course it is the low profile top. I have the bows/frame. My CMC was purchased as a kit in 1987. Looking for reasonable priced NOS if possible. Thx - Dave

Sounds like line in Back to the Future - asking for a Pepsi Free! CMC only offered the pebble grained vinyl back in the day. Plus their fiberglass header bow tends to warp and delaminate. I replaced mine with new Haartz one from VS along with there header which is a black butyl plastic looking product. Looking back - I should have had them install the clips - it was not that much more. I think they also offer a center clip now. It came with a bag of snap fasteners too. Took maybe 3 weeks for them to have it made and shipped. (p.s. I was worried their header might not fit - but it was perfect fit out of the box - far better than the OEM fiberglass CMC one).

Kudu should go to DrClock (Alan Merklin). He uses VS interiors and tops on many of his some 30 builds. Yup costly but price hiring a local upholsterer or the time it takes you to make something else work.

LOL. StayFree is a pantie liner, but you might be on to something. They are advertised as being very absorbent. They "wick moisture away" and they also offer some type of "thermocontrol technology." That might just be the solution to both of our leaking tops and heating issues!
A panty liner rag top - sorry for the faux pas. But it was sorta funny!
