Call Art Thraen in Salt Lake City for a pair he has reworked. Best available. You will enjoy speaking with Art about your project!
His email address is www.aircooledengineering.com
The best of the best.
Thanks Jack, I'll tell him you sent me.
well, $1190 for a set of Dellorto drla 40 rebuilt and tested carbs with all the appurtenances.... Manifild, linkage, air filter kit, etc. But, none in stock right now.He would have to find some used then do the work. What A.C.E. can offer sooner however is Weber 40 or 44 IDF, new/modified/tested, with same package, for the same price. FYI
Steve---There's a workd of difference between Dells and Webers. Dells have ball bearings for some parts that move rather than friction, plus they have 4-5 separate stages where as the Webber has fewer. Webers started as drag racing carbs because they work well wide open or closed. I'd wait on the Dells if possible. Maybe see what you can find on the Samba then send them out for blueprinting.
You know, you listen to Jack rave about Dells (all of it true, I swear) and it just makes me want to go out in the garage and hug my Dells.
Yup, they're that good.
And $1190 for all that stuff is a pretty good price these days, too.
Yes, I agree, wait for the dells... I'll just have to keep checking thesamba, CL, Ebay, and here on SOC. In the mean time if any members hear of a pair come up I am ready to move w cash, check or money order whenever. Thanks Jack!

That's true of IDA's, but the IDF's are a much more refined carburetor. The difference between Dells and IDF's isn't as big as you think..
Steve--Excellent find! You will love them.
Thanks everybody for your inputs. These are N.O.S. (new old stock) which have been in storage for 30+ years, but still basically unused/new condition.I'll get them installed after I get back from vacation and comment on them later. Thanks again!!
Those are plug and play; I have them in my 1915. I was going to suggest Ebay username alfa1750; an Italian guy that has all the factory equipment and rebuilds them and jets them to your needs. I bought those and the set of manifolds, air cleaners and linkage from CB Performance. Good stuff! Have you installed them? How are they working for you?
This is what you need:

Nice Impala, but I got my needs taken care of a while back. Thanks for lookin out tho. Steve
No sweat! After posting all the info I realized you'd already found some. Maybe I got confused with another post but it's nice to know that Gabrielle in Italy has all parts and restores them to factory specs.
