Are you telling me that there is a way to close the door from the INSIDE? Without reaching out over the top of the door and pushing it shut from the outside? WOW, who thought that up?

WAY cheaper than the ones that came on the 356 and just as nice.

Dave, there's a lot of cool stuff on this NLA flyer, including door pulls, for not a lot of money. Some folks here have had good luck with them.

The ones Scott posed are EMPI - CIP1 has them too. EMPI claims they are spring loaded. I'm using ones from a mid '60s MGB. Moss Motors probably has variety of them from British cars.
I thinking the whole inner panel modified with a concave depression (just like all the new cars) and a matching vinyl or leather covered round rod, flush with the inner panel, for a solid door pull. While your at it, add in a matching arm rest right behind it.
