WTB air conditioning

Anyone have a air conditioning system they want to sell?

I'm looking to install one in my Ghia. Let me know what parts you have. I want to build my own system. New systems are not in the budget right now.

What model number compressor are you using?

I have a factory Ghia under-dash air conditioning unit. No compressor or evaporator, but everything else/all of the interior pieces including the padded pieces that mimic/compliment the stock crash pads already there on the Ghias. I've even got the fuse block bracket that raises the fuses up into the front compartment and out of the way of the under-dash blower housing.

I don't remember if you still have the stock Ghia dash in place or not. It's kind of expensive

There is an outfit called ICE...(International Cooling Equipment???)
located in Calif. They make systems for, bugs, busses, Ghias, etc.

As you can tell, I'm not sure of the name, But they run an ad in every issue of Hot VW magazine...

Think he said NEW was not in budget - would be $800-1200. Used parts are $50-400. Originally they came with very power consuming compressors (York?) so retrofit of a new rotary compressor would be a good idea. Try the SAMBA site.

I have a unit that was installed at Vintage by Kirk when I purchased in 1999. It runs well, and since I don't live in Florida anymore, I don't really like having it. I can look up the compressor number for you when I get home if you're still looking

I have a complete A/C setup sitting on in the garage that came from a VS that I am planning to put on my speedster. The compressor that came with it is a "Sanden" model # SD-507. The tag was a little worn, but I am at least sure of the SD-50_ part anyways. The last digit looks to be a 7. Hope this helps.

TC, How are you doing? I was going to get around the expense of a Ghia under-dash pad by making one out of 'glass. Like I've seen on some 356 replicas. I would be interested in what you have and what you have to say.

For those that are wondering about the Ghia post my car is a Ghia/356 hybrid. Those angles in these pics are wierd. It "flows" much better than these pics show. The nose is not as bulbous

Just updated my on-site email info, they changed me from Adelphia to Comcast when one company took over/bought out the other

bt: let me know if you haven't pulled the trigger. I have a compressor, brackets, pulleys, and instructions from a unit that came in a '99 VS. I believe the A/C was in the car for only 2 years.

I was in the middle of a email asking about Justin about the other parts (not shown in the pics) and what he wanted for all the parts( he said he didnt have time to take them off and I said that I was in no rush) Justin then emails that he sold them to someone else. WTF!!!

No Justin, I would not be interested in ANYTHING you have to sell.
