Took a while for the insurance companies to get everything sorted out and I finally received my settlement funds.

 

Going Outlaw this time around. Gathering some of the accessories that got destroyed in the crash. I might be able to post some pics next week. I'm stoked! 

Hope non of all that stuff you packed in your "how to pack a speedster video" was in the wreck, Jimbo. Glad things are coming around for you and Ginny.

I think Jimbo is a disciple, of the 1900cc mantra, "if it blows up, I don't have to take a second out on the house" My call..no huge motor here.

His old motor should be fine.

I think Art is right.  Jim has been preaching the gospel of moderate-sized, trouble free motors for a while now.  Details, Jim!  We need details!

Thanks to all my knucklehead SOC buddies for those encouraging words!

 

I passed on the salvage on the wrecked car. Kirk is building my new ride (subtle outlaw, standard 1915 VS engine) and looks to finish it in a couple of weeks. I'll post pics as soon as I get my Guamaniac hands on that bad-boy. I'm stoked! 

Too cool!  What happened to upgrading to a 2054 next time?  I distinctly remember that conversation after you drove my car ;-)

New Vintage Speedster---sensational!  1915---can't go wrong.  Jim will get 100,000 miles out of this baby.

 

Jim--any details?  Color?  What will make it a "subtle outlaw"?

 

 I hope Kirk realizes that he is building for the #1 Vintage Speedster ambassador around and builds yiour car with the max quality that he's capable of.

I'm not kidding, that boy's head is like Sputnik; spherical but quite pointy at parts!

Is that a primer coat flat black, or an actual formulated finish coat?

 

When I was a kid the '40 Ford flathead coupes with spun aluminum caps seemed to go faster dressed in a flat black primer.

It's a formulated finish. It was painted before I purchased. Not the best job, but it works. I also sealed the finish with a matte sealer (UV protectant). It's very labor intensive keeping swirl marks and spots off. I also have to use a special matte detailer not sold in stores.

 

There are black mattes wraps available at a lower cost then a spray job.

Plus the matte black shows every little scrap or scratch. And there's nothing you can do to buff things out like traditional paint.

That car look sooooo bad-ass with the matte finish and those awesome wheels. That combo really really works! 

My brother does rat rods and that's a favorite color. It's just as expensive to do it in that as one of the shiny ones.
