Mango,

how about using a 356 hood crest?  Same price, but you could recreate an original style button.  i have used both he hub cap crest and the hood crest, and both work great... Just depends on the horn size you will be using.

I just installed on my M. Lempert Derrington Style wheel 1/2 inch dish With large 9bolt hub w/ ISP horn adaptor a 356 hood crest resined into a black banjo horn button ( button smooth like the originals- crest is under the resin);

The Resin idea I got at a birthday party my 7 yr old was invited to last week... They made resin paper weights... Talked to the parent, and she picked up the supplies at a hobby/ craft store... They sell kid kits for under 10$..,

How to-

- disassemble horn button, separate black plastic piece from mechanishm.

- make a mold of horn button using my kids Paydo - basically a container the shape of the horn button To pour the resin in and dip the horn button/crest.

- attach crest with paper thin two sided tape to black plastic horn piece ( use no foam emblem tape, not the foam trim type)

- pour 3mm of resin in to mold.

- dip/float black horn piece with crest ( face down) about -1.5 -2mm in to resin mold...  Don't let the button bottom out in mold... You want to have .1mm over the crest....Allow to dry over night.

- remove from mold, sand down excess material/imperfections and down to desided smooth shape  - ensuring the logo is completely immersed/covered.. Then wet sand/polish/buf/wax to a crystal clear finish.

-.. And re-assemble horn button.

My previous iteration was with the same wheel/crest, and Ivory banjo horn button, but crest was adhered just using the paper thin emblem two sided tape.  Looked great, but feeling the raised crest bugged me.  I may eventually recreate what I did with the black banjo horn.

I also have a new Lempert flat Nardi style wheel with Beck horn adaptor and 356 hub cap crest.  Should have had Mike make the wheel with the larger 9 bolt hub... But I totally spaced!!  Will eventually change the hex bolts for a more traditional looking screw head ;-)

I like to experiment, and all my big winter projects are done... So this is what has kept me busy the last few days ;-)  Well, also installing a fire extinguisher system.

food for thought ;-)
