I don't want to spend 80 to 100 K for a new one.  I don't want to wait 2+ years for one to be built.  I want one that has a convertible top and roll up glass as well as air conditioning.  I plan on driving the car frequently.  I realize this may be a tall order.  I trust that sooner or later one will come along.  If you know of one or have one you are ready to part with please let me know.

Get in touch with Chris Schofield.  He has 2014 2.5 Suby IM Roadster that he was thinking about selling.  Not sure if he is still on the fence.  That will set you back 65K (I think thats what he was asking)  Maybe someone can find the older ad.  My 2012 would set you back about the same because it has a much higher trim level and is totally dialed in (you can drive it cross coutry in a heart beat).  If someone was to coax me out of my car I would call 1-800 IM and build a WRX Tub or a IM 911-6 with the Deep Trunk option.

When did they do this? It certainly is not on their website.Originally Posted by Lane Anderson - Mt. Pleasant, SC:

Check with the Beck folks.  The now offer a Roadster (roll-up windows) starting at around $50k.  A/C and Subi power are certainly available.  Your other option is to look for a used IM Roadster.  Check in IM website on occasion as Henry will list used cars there for some of his customers.

I should have specified USED.  I know the new price from the people I would do business with.  I am hoping to give a new home to one already built.  Originally Posted by GeorgiaTravler:

Bought a used watercooled conv D IM one year ago.  Needed a bit of sorting out and I thought about selling it a few times.  But with a little cash and patience the car is perfect.  Used watercooled IM is the way to go if you can find one.  But don't expect it to be perfect (unless you buy Marty's).  Most will still need some sorting out.  I did see the Beck conv D at Carlisle.  It was very nice.  If you get a price on one with suby and AC I'd be interested in knowing price.

Honestly, I can't understand why anyone would spend big bucks buying a new IM and not go water cooled*.

*unless the engine was an air cooled flat six.....right Bob.

It all depends on what you want out of one of these cars.  Daily driver?  Summer/weekend car?  Semi-original feel?  Air conditioned cruiser?  Bare bones outlaw?

Or, a long term project with no hope of ever getting it on the road again

There is no end to the variety and the fun you can have in these cars.

Alan, I think that jab was at me.....wasn't it Bobbie?

Who, me???

What are brothers for?  I expect that car to be on the road next summer when I head out there, or no test drive for you...

My car may be ready by then.

Bob, it makes sense for me to test drive your car and work out the bugs, so it is fully ready for you when you pick it up.  Henry could do it, but seriously, I'm retired and have the time to put a lot of miles on her to make sure everything works as it should.  I'm will to give up a lot of my time to drive and drive and drive until everything is perfect.

Also, I want to see how easy it is to drift a 911 powered IM.
