For decades there simmered deep inside me a yearning to replace my '59 coupe, and later my '61 roadster. Nothing I owned during those years ever duplicated that Porsche experience...close, but no brass ring! Several years ago after an introduction to SOC and replicas that possibility became an obsession.
Fortunately after a couple of aborted 'down to the wire' purchases I calmed down the fever, bided my time, and eventually found a very well sorted VS within my budget that was purchased through an independent third party broker.
I hope you can avoid closed container shipping expenses to a 'Down Under' port of entry and instead find one around the corner from you in Australia...It'll take the anxiety out of waiting on the dock for a 'mail order bride' to be off loaded!!
What would shipping be from say Calif to you? Assume around $3.5k?
Thanks for your thoughts, guys. I've been wanting a coupe but my bank account says no! I have put the word out to the Aussie 356 club here, but even replicas seem to be too expensive. Wolfgang, shipping is approx $2800 AUD from California. I imported a 911 from there a few years ago with no worries at all
