Went to Tire Kingdom for an oil change. They asked what kind of car, I said a 356 Replica. They said they didn't have anything like that in their computer, They looked at the car and saw the Carrera script and tried looking that up and said they didn't have a filter for a Carrera. I told them that the engine was a 2005 Subaru Impreza engine and they said they couldn't do that because their computer couldn't match up my VIN number (from the builder) with any Porsches they had listed. Pffft, when back to the shop where I had it painted and they did the oil change in the blick of an eye.

Nolan, I had a little better luck with Express Oil Change here in Newnan, GA. Knowing how folks respond to 'different' looking cars, I parked across the parking lot and started to get out of my Ferrari 250 GTO replica. The proprietor met me just as I was exiting from the car to tell me that they could not change the oil on cars like that.

My response was, "Really? Does your computer have an entry for a 1974 Chevy 350 engine?" He replied, "I am not sure." Anyway I got the oil changed. Fortunately, I did not have to pass the computer VIN test. I suppose that has something to do with the manufacturer's warrenty - as if a 1957 Porsche Cabriolet or 62 Ferrari 250 GTO warrenty was still in effect.

But then, I am not sure what it takes to work in a quicky lube. Computer skills?
I didn't mention it, but the District Manager was there and he backed up the Store Manager. I would change my own oil and filter as access on the Subi engine is quite easy, even for a 72 year old fart, hard part is disposing of the used oil and filter. Now if there was only a company that would recycle the oil and sell it to China maybe we could balance our trade deficit.

Max, I have gotten new tires from them before with good results. The only problem was with a 2009 Dodge Journey. Dodge really gets you by the short hairs on that one. I had to replace a tire with an unrepairable nail puncture, it seems Dodge is the only place that particular tire size can be found. Neither Pep Boys, Tire Kingdom, Sears, Advanced Auto or Costco carried a tire that matched the size of the remaining three tires. BTW, that tire cost me nearly $300 installed at my local "friendly" Dodge dealer, and no, I don't have the Journey anymore, google 2009 Dodge Journey brake complaints to see why.
