That right there is a Subaru-engine Vintage Spyder. Woohoo Leon!
This year we get all three versions, me, Lenny, and Leon. Type 1, type 4, and Suby.
And Darcie and Stephen with their Stuttgart Spyder. I think a couple more are coming, but we'll have at least 4 for the whole weekend.
We're gaining on them Danny.....

Leon, I met and know you as a SpyderMan, so the world is back to normal again. Well it was until recent events with the Cheesehead up North. I think he's turning Japanese (I really think so) LOL 
My thanks to Hoss for inspiring the acceptance of Suby power..... The car is WAY quicker than my first Spyder and idles like a purring lap cat.... I'm getting too old and don't have the room for the "mechanics" I used to perform.... So thanks again Hoss...

Since thats the way the Subbie engine sits in the donor car - does it use the Subbie trans? Every time I look at a Spyder I envision a Porsche 915 5 speed dropping right in there! Brings back AH bugeye and TR Spitfire days when you could actually service the engine --- or polish it up!

Looks like a VW transaxle to me.
Its a VW gear box and the Subby ( with radiator, hoses etc. ) is probably 200+lbs. heavier... The radiator is in front, which helps balance the car... The Quaife limited slip differential keeps power to both wheels and helps A LOT in the handling dept..

Are all of you spyder folks running quaife LSD? My first spyder which had a 1915 type 1 did not have a LSD. My suby spyder (first one ever made by Vintage) had a LSD. While I would agree that the car with the LSD was quicker out of a corner, I'm not sure that it was more fun. There is something to be said for hanging that beautiful rear end out around a corner with that single tire smoking and the car drifting while you just bring everything back into line with a bit of throttle and counter steer. Just saying. Being the fastest isn't always the most fun. I really miss my spyders sometimes. My wife says that after my daughter is finished with school, 4 years, and if I'm a good boy maybe I can add a spyder to the garage. BEAUTIFUL car Leon. It certainly checks all the right boxes. Power, colors, it has it all. Makes me salivate. I love my 356. I could drive it across the country in comfort tomorrow. It was 25 degrees yesterday and I was comfy warm with Pandora cranking. I'll never be without the 356. But the spyder is such an adrenaline rush. It has the most forgiving predictable handling of any car I have ever owned. Maybe one day. Congratulations.

I don't think there is much chance that a dressed Suby is 200 pounds more than a Type 1. I looked into this before doing my swap.
More like 50, maybe 60 pounds if you aren't careful.

Can you weigh you car with the Subi and tell us the weight gain from the type 1? Voila, no more guessing.
