Got the car home and in the garage Friday evening. Took it for an easy run Saturday afternoon and parked it back in garage. Sunday morning I went in to the garage and was knocked back by the smell of fuel. I immediately opened the garage and pushed the car out to vent until I could find the culprit. I check the tank, cap, seals, vent, etc...About an hour and half or so....got under car, scratching my head. About then my wife comes in the garage and casually says (oblivious to my dilemma) "next time you mow the lawn, do you think you can put the top back on the gas can?"

Duh.

Justin,
Even though you know what the culprit was this time, don't be alarmed if you do smell gas occassionally, especially on a warm day after a drive.
The fuel in your carbs will evaporate because of the heat.
It's always a good idea to open up the engine lid and inspect before you start the car.
Oh, and make sure you open the garage door as well.;)
That is funny,, Gotta watch those gas cans..

I also have a fuel shut off on the D. It is a Western Auto riding lawn mower part. Works great for over wintering. or when you want to pull a engine..

I need one on the bug near the tank so. It would make fuel filter changing easy er. the D could use one there too I have a extra filter below the tank on both cars Because I don't have the finger screens in the tanks.

(You Know! the ones that like to fold up when they get cruddy and old.)
