My Speedie has a 1915cc engine made in Mexico. The car is mostly a Vintage Speedster--one that AL sells. The engine was made in Mexico---so I'm told--I really don't know for sure.

Today I called a large catalog company about parts and was told that the parts for german made vw engines aren't compatable with engines made in Mexico. Well just damn.

Is this true? If so, where do I find parts---accessories for my South of the border engine? I'm looking for an oil cooler and an external filter. (I just changed the oil @ 1,000 miles and there no screen!!!!!---Just a magnetic drain plug. What's with that?

Any help will be much appreciated!---Jack, Hot Springs

Ditto to what Larry says. You'll find your parts at any VW parts vendor so don't worry about it. If you don't have a full flow system installed do yourself a favor and install the screen as God and the factory intended. If you do, as Larry says the screen is optional and you can do away with it; the magnetic drain plug is a great idea; keep it too.
