Cam Rahn Bay 70-71 Year of 69 mortar and rocket hits, hehehe Charlie couldn't hit $hit! Went back during the big bombing runs over Hanoi, this time in safe Thailand, we only got attacked once there by some rebels (?)any how we got 4 more months of combat pay.

My Dad, Wilmer G Pierson LT USNR, USS Basilone, Wilson and Chauncy. WWII and Korea, still a sailor! The DD in the pic. behind him was in his squadron off Okinawa when it was hit by 5 Kamikazi planes. My dad saw it happen, while manning a 40MM battery on the USS Wilson DD-408.

I never met my father.... He was a Navy chief whose plane went down in the Pacific just before the end of WWII.

old sailors never die, they just smell that way.
off nam for a few weeks we were out of milk, eggs, anything fresh.
we were allowed to take a navy shower every other day, some meals were horsecock(5" bologna from god knows where), bread that was baked that day but weighed a ton, think plywood. All forms of dehyradted food boiled in water, powdered eggs, mystery meat and the such. You know, i kinda miss all that BS. All that misery makes liberty(in port) all the much sweeter. To be young again.

and don't forget that 5" bologna. That horse thingie...what he said...

Brother- 1st Lt Navy Pilot, Viet Nam still alive and kicking.

Dad, Howard D. USN G-2 Pacific Theater, Okinawa, Tokyo. 1924-2008

My dad: 1911-1961, USNA Class of '32; WWII, Normandy. Capt., died on active duty, killed by a desk in the Pentagon, one might say.

Cory: when are you due state-side? Gotta be soon if not already.
