Hello all,

We got caught in a shower on the return leg of a run to a special swimming hole below a waterfall. Pulled under an overpass to put the top up & wait out the heavier stuff. Within minutes the area filled with kindred souls.... 5 Harleys, a 32 Roadster, a 60 Vette, and a 67 MGB. Ended up dragging coolers out of cars and a Van that joined in, and had snacks, refreshments and a great time as the rain came down harder. Took boo-coo pics but these are the first I've loaded from a disc (I use a Mavica & 3.5 Floppies) early in the rain, just as we got our top up and the deuce and 4 Harleys pulled in. I have a great group shot as we re-parked in the cars and bikes close together and we all sat in front, all toasting the rain gods with some Miller Lite, or sodas. Here's the first early shots (5) before everyone was pulled in and refreshments came out.

It's the simple stuff.... know what I mean?

Jim, Home now, Car wiped Down, Chassis sprayed off.... Reflecting on a great day.

Bruce,

The car has only been in heavy rain twice and I am anal about getting under it and wiping things down now and then. So, when I got home I took my high pressure washer and washed the pan, under engine/trans, wheel weels, inner wheels. etc. Pulled it up on stands and wiped it down. It's a little much, but I really like keeping my cars clean.

Dale, Now that's funny! I've been stuck at an underpass that I hoped no one would stop (during my single days).!!;-)

Bill, Me too bro, me too. A glide in blue.

Mike, That's funny, Chez Jim. Now if I had one in south central el lay could I call it Chez-what!??????

Rob-Bob, Thanks for the car complement. I've had it 2 years and really enjoy putting it on the road. 16,700 miles! Congrats on your new car, I'm sure you'll put a few miles on it too!

Ron, You have the flick! But that doesn't suprise me in the least.

Jim,
What a great story! The last time I was under an overpass I was riding my Buell S3 Thunderbolt (one of my 2 bolts..hehehe) heading from Chicagoland to West Central Wisconsin. What a deluge! My buddy was riding a Bimmer which was painted flat black and loading down with stuff which made it look like a WWII 45ci, cept for the color. Nobody stopped, or even slowed down for that matter. I think the people were afraid to. We put on our rainsuits and continued when we thought it was letting up. It didn't. Most miserable ride I ever had. We had sun for the rest of the week and great rides to even the score. Life went back into balance. BTW, it pays to be anal if it means keeping your car as nice as you keep yours. Really.

John, I'm sending you two pics of old bimmer bikes from a recent car show. There's a neat old rider named "Buzz" that trailers in a few BSAs Triumphs, BMWs, and Nortons to shows... or rides in solo. He appears to be about mid-late 70s, maybe even early 80s, looks like George Burns & shows it with the black round rim glasses and a cigar... about 5' nothing.

Came rolling in once on a Black Shadow, looking like George Burns, cept WWI Aviator goggles, and a black t-shirt with skull and cross bones and "Jap Crap SUCKS" across it. What a guy.

Anyway, am sending two pics PM.

Jim
Hey Jim,
Thanks, I'll be looking forward to seeing the pix. If I can find it, I'll post a picture of the Bimmer I'm referring to. It started life as a beautiful rich red R100RT and wound up looking like.......you be the judge. Your old dude sounds like a neat guy.
Yo bro

Jim, I got my friend Ted Buckland started with motorcyles back in the 70's; now he has a Vincent Shadow, Brough Superior, early and late Ariel Square fours, several BMWs with and without sidecars, several BSAs, a Velocette Venom Thruxton, etc., to go with his bought-new 300SL Gullwing, Bugatti type 37 (or 39?), 1930's Frazer-Nash TT trials car (4-speed chain drive transmission), Porsche 356 coupe, Jaguar 120M roadster, RHD 1949 Fiat 1100cc Abarth coupe (may be the Nuvolari car, index of performance at the Mille Miglia), and MG TC. His replicas include a 550 Spyder, Allard J2X, Jaguar C-type, and Jaguar D-type. Ted's heart is bigger than his garage...
