Zipper dilemma

I was wondering how many of you unzip your soft top window when you put the top down (if you have a zipper).

on my vintage i installed a zipper, it great for crusing with the top up. i always zip the window up, when iam going to put the top down. bill

I drop the window every time to avoid creasing the plastic.

My rear soft window lays against the back of the interior---flat and doesn't want to fold or crease.

Speaking of tops--I traveled thousands of miles before I figured out that the best way to load or unload the storage area behind the seats is to unsnap the rear of the top and let it go forward somewhat--voila---no more twisted backs from loading or unloading that area.

With my Miata, which also has a plastic back window, I always unzip the window before I drop the top. I plan on doing the same with my IM, and was wondering how many of you did the same with your speedsters. A bonus is the top drops a bit further down when I unzip the window first.

I always unzip the rear window, fold it flat and cover it with a very soft microfiber towel before folding the rest of the top down into the boot. Has worked well so far. Learned this from Henry.

I unzip and fold down every time, though that may be TMI for some people:) I am going to have to replace the top this next year... It is 8 years old and has shrunk up enough side to side that it doesn't reach the edges well and I've had some stitching let go.

I'm really surprised that Vince or Gerd haven't jumped all over this thread yet.
